Dr Diamantis Andriotis, born 1981, studied Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College and City University, London, where he received an excellence award for his academic achievements. His Doctorate degree, under sponsorship by MAN B&W, involved experimental and numerical investigations of complex flows and cavitation inside large Diesel Engine fuel systems and their effect on the Near-nozzle Spray Structure. Along and after his PhD he performed research at City University for Caterpillar (USA), Perkins (UK) and participated to the DTi project for the design of radically low emission Diesels. Due to his involvement with Mathematics and Fluid Dynamics he was appointed to develop an algorithm for the 3-D reconstruction of coronary arteries able to perform quantitative analysis of the geometric characteristics and the internal flow for a project sponsored by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. Through his research work he has authored and co-authored numerous publications for Technical Journals and Conferences and he is a reviewer of JFM, POF, A&S and IJER. Since 2008 he works for Stealth Maritime Corporation SA being responsible for the New Buildings of the company, including Bulk Carriers, Tankers and LPGs, and being involved in the projects and technical management of the existing fleet of 60 vessels. Being involved with research and development he has actively participated in various conferences related to Shipping and technical advancements.
Member of the Italian National Committee TC18 “Electrical installations of ships and of mobile and fixed offshore units” since 1993, he took the TC18 Italian Chairmanship in 2004 and is the actual Chairman.RINA representative in ACAE (Association for the certification of electrical apparatus member of LOVAG) he has been the Chairman since 2002.He was RINA Member of the IACS Working Party on Electricity and of the IACS Machinery Panel (1997-2004).In 2007, he became the Head of the Machinery Sector in RINA taking also responsibilities for the “MARPOL - IBC - IGC and Environmental Issues Group”.
Stravros Daniolos studied at Sunderland Poly and Newcastle University, graduating with a M.Sc. in Marine Engineering in 1979.He served his military service as Engineer Petty Officer with the Hellenic Navy.His first employment as Superintendent Engineer was with Canopus Shipping from 1979 until 1984.In 1985 he joined Ceres Hellenic Shipping Enterprises as Superintendent Engineer and in 1995 was promoted to the position of Technical Manager held till 2000.In 2001 he moved to Athenian Sea Carriers as Chief Operating Officer, position held till September 2001.In 2001 he joined Minerva Marine Inc as Technical Manager, position held today.Stavros Daniolos is a member of most major classification societies, Vice President of MARTECMA and secretary of the Greek CIMAC association.

Jiliang Zhou holds a Bachelor degree in Naval Architecture, Shanghai Jiang Tong University (1989) and a Master degree in Management, Norwegian Businesses School (2000).He began his carreer in shipbroking in 1989 with a Chinese National Trading House where he stayed for 11 years. Then he joined Zodiac Maritime Shanghai office, as manager in charge of newbuilding projects in China and since 2005 he is with Clarkson. Today he is Director of Clarkson Asia Limited, Head of Newbuilding / Sales and Purchase department in Clarkson Shanghai.
Ted Petropoulos has also been in shipowning and shipmanagement since 1998. He founded Petrobulk Maritime Inc in 1998, which until 2007 had managed 13 dry bulk vessels. Petrofin Ship Management Inc, (PSMI), was founded in 2005, and currently manages a modern 5-vessel fleet of handymaxes / supramaxes.
Ralf Plump is a Naval Architect M.Sc. (Diplomingenieur, Dipl.-Ing.) He gained his diploma in naval architectures in 1989 at the University of Hamburg. In the same year he joined Germanischer Lloyd (GL) Container Department. He worked in field of container stowage and lashing systems for about 7 years with several special duties like rules development, etc. Until 2001 he did hull drawing approval for ship newbuilding of nearly all ship types with several stays in East Asia (South Korea and P.R. of China) as a hull surveyor and on-location drawing approval engineer. The last five years he was the deputy head of the ship acoustic department at GL. With beginning of 2008 he became head of environmental service group within GL’s Strategic Research Department. In April 2009 he became head of the new founded Environmental Research Department in GLs business unit Strategic Research & Development.

Prior to joining ABS in 2001 Kirsi Tikka was Professor of Naval Architecture at Webb Institute in New York. She has also worked for Chevron Shipping in San Francisco and for Wartsila Shipyards in Finland.
A native of Finland, Kirsi has a Doctorate in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture from the University of Technology in Helsinki. She is Member of SNAME and Fellow of RINA.
Panos Zachariadis is Technical Director of Atlantic Bulk Carriers Management Ltd since 1997. Prior to that he was Marine Superintendent in New York. His shipping experience includes sea service in bulk carriers and oil tankers, specifications and supervision of repairs and new buildings, ship operations and chartering.
He has been attending IMO since 2004 as member of the Greek delegation, being involved with IMO’s Goal Based Standards from beginning to end. He was also extensively involved in the Greek FSA study which reversed the IMO decision to make double hull bulk carriers mandatory and was instrumental in developing IMO’s coating standard (PSPC) for ships’ ballast tanks. His current focus is the environmental regulations being formed at IMO (Market Based Instruments and EEDI). He has written numerous technical guides and papers and is a frequent article contributor to the magazine Naftika Chronika.
Panos Zachariadis holds a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University and a MSE degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan. Memberships include the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, SNAME, BIMCO Marine Committee, several Technical Committees (ABS, LR, Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, Union of Greek Shipowners), BoD and founding member of Marine Technical Managers Association (MARTECMA) of Greece.
